Recently, a second article about my favorite cafes came out. So I thought it would be a pity not to write a list of great restaurants in Prague too. For me, food plays a big role, and especially when I'm going somewhere abroad. Mostly I do not know the local restaurants and I want to avoid such restaurants for tourists - overpriced and food is not nearly as good as when you know the local restaurants. I hope that this will be useful to you.
I chose both traditional restaurants with traditional recipes, as well as Italian, burger bistros and vegan/vegetarian restaurants. I am not a vegan or vegetarian myself, but I have lots of people around me who are.
We can start with traditional restaurants. The first is the so-called Lokál (Local), which has more branches in Prague. Just type it in Google and you get other branch addresses out. The Lokál is best-known because of its beer - Czech brand Pilsner Urquell. You will find traditional dishes such as sirloin, duck or classic schnitzel and lots more. Most traditional Czech dishes consist of meat, side dish, and sauce. Other similar restaurants are Potrefena husa, Kozlovna or Kolkovna. All of them have more branches in Prague.
Now we can move on from the traditional ones. Czech dishes are great but very heavy. That's why I want to write a little about one of my new favorite places. Pizzeria L'Osteria.They cook great there, have their own fresh pasta, excellent Tiramisu, wines far and wide. It is a new restaurant and can be found at Narodni street in a building called DRN (divot). This building was recently built and I dare say that it is the most modern of all the buildings in Narodni street, but still somehow fits in the historical concept. Or maybe I already got used to it.
The best place for meat steaks is Brazziliero. It has two branches. The first one at the Old Town Hall and the other at the Slavic house. It works on the concept of eating what you can. But I must admit that this is a more expensive restaurant, but the meals are worth it.
Let's move to the burgers. Finding a really good burger bistro is quite difficult. I tasted a lot of burgers, from cheap to the most expensive. Every year I go to Burgerfest, which I already wrote to you about. The best places are three. Bejzment, Cantina Black Dog and Regal burger. All have more branches again. Regal burger has classic burgers for a good price. They are not so much interesting in taste, but they fulfill the purpose. Bejzment and Black Dog are about something else. Their burgers have a good balance of flavors and ingredients. For interest, the name of the Black Dog restaurant was made thanks to the owner's dog. So the restaurant is dog-friendly.
Finally, I will mention one of the most popular restaurants in the vegan community. Forky's located in street Veleslavinova, Josefov.
