We invite you to attend the Christmas Concert & Opera with Ballet in Smetana Hall of Municipal House of Prague.
Smetana's Hall forms the dominant feature of the Municipal House in Prague. The Art Nouveau hall was designed as a multi-purpose hall, primarily for concerts, balls and other social events. The parts with the stage intended for orchestras are dominated by a circular bronze relief with a portrait of the music composer Bedřich Smetana – a work by František Hergesel. In the hall we can find plaques of other music composers, created by Josef Kalvoda. On the sides of the stage there are statues of Vyšehrad and Slavic Dances by Ladislav Šaloun. The ceiling and wall allegories of Music, Dance, Poetry and Drama were painted by Ladislav Špilar. The interior is richly decorated with golden wallpaper - in the boxes, the bands of circular lights on the ceiling, the necessary art nouveau mirrors and the overall color of the walls are worth noting.
The Municipal House - Obecní dům in the Czech language - sets on the right bank of the Vltava River, in the Republic Square, which is situated between the Old and New Towns directly adjacent to the Powder Tower. Not far away from here there is the tram and bus stop of the trams No. 6, 8, 15 and 26 and the bus No. 207, or you can use the metro, route B.
On foot in the direction from the Old Town Square follow the Celetná Street and after 10 minute walk you come to Powder Tower or you can follow the Na Příkopě Street from Wenceslas Squaredirection.
Smetana concert Hall is located on the first floor
