Prague castle has been standing in its place and overlooking the river Vltava and the city since the end of 9th century. Right from the beginning it always served solely as the seat of the rulers of the country. It highlights whole range of the architectonical styles from Romanesque, through Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque up to modern architecture examples. For its size (570 × 128 m) it was declared by Guiness book of Records as the biggest castle complex in the world. But not only the size; it is specially the history and architecture which makes the visit absolutely worth seeing. We will be visiting Royal garden from 16th century (open from April to October), St.Vitus gothic cathedral as the place of coronation of bohemian kings and queens, Old Royal palace, Romanesque St. George basilica and you will see also rather unique Golden Lane, the place where in the past the alchemists tried to produce artificially the gold. Prague castle today is widely opened to public and serves as the seat of Czech President.
