After meeting the group we will make a ride by historical funicular which was built here first time already in the last decade of 19th Century. This remarkable and popular type of transportation is heading on the top of one of Prague hills – Petřín. Along the way you´ll see mediaeval wall of fortification. During our tour you will have time to stop and take some rare photos which not too many other tourists have chance to have.
Slowly we will arrive to still active Strahov monastery operated by Premonstratensians where we visit their precious library, in fact two baroque library halls from 17th and 18th Centuries and listen to eight hundred year long history of this originally French order. Just a stone thrown away from here there is famous pilgrimage place being inspired by the construction of Italian original Loreto.
Prague Loreto was built for the purposes of catholic Reformation in 17th Century, inside you can find for example Holy House of Virgin Maria, church of Nativity of Our Lord, but capuchin monks – who are in charge to take care about the place – succeeded also to gather precious collection of a treasury with leading diamond monstrance – if you want to see 6222 diamonds in one place, come to joint us. What left over? The tour will be concluded by a walk through a quiet and abandoned New World originally in 14th Century intended for very poor citizens, but soon occupied until nowadays by variety of different artists as painters, musicians, sculptors etc.
This tour will end back in buzzing place with large possibilities to stop for a lunch and continue in your own program.
