Let´s visit the privately owned castle Český Šternberk, situated about 45 km East from Prague. The manors residence possessed by the same family since its foundation in 13th Century. Only with the exception of the communist era the castle has been in the hands of the same family until nowadays. Originally gothic fortress is today privately possessed Renaissance chateau where the Šternberk family still lives. Located in picturesque landscape built in a steep hill overlooking the countryside of the romantic Sázava River valley around.
During the tour you can visit 15 richly decorated rooms furnished in the style of various historical periods, “meet” important members of the Sternberg family and catch a glimpse of their way of life. You can also learn about the unique Šternberk collection of copper engravings from the Thirty Years’ War, which is one of the largest monothematic collections of engravings in Europe. After the tour you will have time to make the pictures from the castle courtyard and from Sázava valley as well.

For the departure for Český Šternberk excursion we will have the bus in Pařížská Street, the Old Town, the right hand side river bank. The bus will be standing in Pařížská Street No 30, which is from a side of the Intercontinental hotel (not in front of the main entrance to this hotel). Close to our bus with FEBS 2019 International Conference sign you also will see the river Vltava and the bridge with the columns.
