Come to enjoy our Christmas concert in medieval venue – Romanesque church of St. Martin in the Wall located in the Old Town of Prague

We invite you to a concert with a beautiful Christmas atmosphere in the originally Gothic church of St. Martin in the Wall in the Old Town of Prague. The church is heated in winter, during the concert you can relax by looking at the simple medieval decoration of the interior.

The Church of St. Martin in the Wall boasts one of the longest histories of preserved churches in Prague, dating back to the second half of the 12th century. It got its nickname "in the wall" because it was later incorporated into the city walls. It was further rebuilt in the 14th century during the reign of Charles IV in the High Gothic style and after the Hussite wars.

The church became an important center of the Reformation and followers of Hus preached here. The first Eucharist under both kinds in Prague after hundreds of years was celebrated here, both bread and wine for all the participants.

The church has retained its medieval character, it was deconsecrated at the end of the 18th century. Today it is the property of the capital city of Prague and has long been used by the Czech Brethren Evangelical Church for its services. In addition to regular religious services, it also serves as a noble center of culture.
